True to the title of the book, I had great expectations to the quality of performance by the reader as this is one of the greatest literary classics from of the most well-known author in history. The narrator gave a clear performance and props to him as he chose to perform the narration in straight English while performing the different character’s dialogues in various accents and tones. One of the best aspects of an audiobook recording of your favorite novel would be if the reader/s voice acted out each characters and that is present in this free edition of the literary classic. The reader in this free audiobook gave a magnificent performance as narrator and as the various characters in the book. Great Expectations is a novel published in 1861 with three separate volumes. Overall, Great Expectations is a classic that is a must read, and now, must listen as an audiobook and piece of literary history that is both uplifting and eye opening to the trials of society. The pacing of the story is simply perfect as it jumps from one chapter to the next smoothly and naturally. Pip is a strong and well balanced character and this has made him a solid archetype for protagonists in countless other literatures. The story is a perfect blend of various elements of human individualism and society and clearly shows the worst and best part of each. The protagonist will experience various aspects of human nature and will come into conflict with his past and what he wants to be in the future.
